Dear BrowEA,
Thank you for your letter of the 26th January about some outstanding claims by the Government of Hong Kong for stores supplied to the E. G. S.C., the Government of India and the R.A. F.
On Item 2(a), it may very well be that H.M. G. is not liable, by reason of the specification of the category "stores" which was covered by the Rs. 9.77 crores included in the £55 m. in settlement. I feel, however, that the most suitable way of dealing with this item is for the details to be put to the Government of India as Eales has suggested. As the Colonial office has the details perhaps they would prepare the draft or brief you as necessary,
Yours sincerely,
D. J. ATHERTON
